Murchison Falls and Kidepo Valley Safari – 6 Days

DAY 1: ZIWA RHINO SANCTUARY | MURCHISON FALLS

A guide from AA safaris and tours will come pick you up from the hotel in Kampala and drive to Murchison falls park. You will stop over at Ziwa rhino sanctuary when you reach Nakasongola. You will go for a nature walk when you get to the sanctuary and during the walk, you will look out for these wild rhinos which you can never find any where else in the country. After the nature walk, you will drive out of the sanctuary, go have your lunch and from there, you will continue to Murchison falls national park. You will visit the top of the fall if your lodge is on the southern otherwise, you may have to just hike up to the top of the falls when you go for the boat ride. You can spend the night at either

DAY 2: BOAT-RIDE | GAME-DRIVE

After having your breakfast in the morning, you will then go for a game drive on the northern side of park to search for the wildlife. You can expect to see lots of elephants, Giraffes, Lions, water bucks, Uganda kobs, Topi, different species of antelopes, among others and you will be through with game drive by mid morning. You will have time to relax at the lodge as you wait for lunch and after lunch, you will go for an afternoon boat ride on the Victoria Nile and the boat ride will take you upstream and stop at the base of the Murchison falls and if you are interested, you can hike up to the top of the falls but that is at an extra fee. During the ride however, you will see water animals like the Hippos, crocodiles, Water bucks, and a wide variety of bird species. Later on, you will return to the lodge to have your dinner and over night.

DAY 3: KIDEPO VALLEY NATIONAL PARK

You will have breakfast very early and then drive to Kidepo valley national park. You will have lunch like in Kitgum and then later continue the park. You will arrive later in the evening and setup your tents at the park headquarters if you are camping as you prepare for dinner. You will go for a night game drive later on and you will search for the nocturnal animals that you may not be able to see during day time. Cats like the lions can easily be spotted in the night. Later, you will return for an over night

DAY 4: MORNING GAME DRIVE IN NARUS VALLEY | COMMUNITY VISIT

After breakfast that early morning, you will then drive to Narus valley before dawn. You will go searching for the lions, leopards, cheetahs, among others before it warms up and they go into hiding to protect themselves from the heat. Kidepo is the only park in Uganda where you can find the cheetah and ostriches and so this early morning game search provides you will higher chances of seeing them. You can expect to see thousands of buffaloes, elephants, zebras, there are water-bucks, bush bucks, elands, jackals, a few hyenas, among so may other animals. And for the bird watchers, you can expected the best trip ever as there are lots of bird species, all you need is a high-quality camera and a pair of binoculars. After the game drive, you go have your lunch and after lunch, you will go for a community visit in the karamajong community. You will learn about their interesting culture, learn about their way of living and you can also buy some thing from their craft work for yourself before heading back to the lodge/ camp for dinner.

DAY 5:  MORNING GAME DRIVE | NATURE WALK IN KIDEPO

You will have your breakfast, you will head to Kidepo valley for a safari, do some bird watching. You will drive back at about midday, have lunch and then drive Kitgum where you will spend the night. Overnight will be at the Boma

DAY 6 DEPARTURE | KAMPALA

You will have your breakfast from the hotel where you will have spent the night. After breakfast, you will head to Kampala through Lira or Gulu. You will have a lunch break along the way
