8 Days Gorilla Adventure | Uganda and Rwanda Safari Holiday

DAY 1:  QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK

Today morning you will be picked from your accommodation in Kampala by our guide and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park where you will arrive in the afternoon. You will have a stopover at the Uganda Equator to take some photos. As you drive to your accommodation you will see various animals such as Antelopes and Elephants, others. In the afternoon there will be an optional nature walk in the Mweya Peninsula, explore the fascinating Queen Elizabeth’s charming crater lakes sector. These crater lakes are unique in a way that each of them has its own individual temperament and nature providing a residence for a myriad of creatures. Visit Lake Katwe and get to see the salt works and Flamingo Lake is exhilarating! Some of the wildlife in Queen Elizabeth include: Leopards, Elephants, Mangoose, Buffaloes, Bushbucks, Spotted Hyena, Lions, Hippos and the elusive Giant Forest Hog, in addition to over 600 species of birds like the Shoebill Stork, Swallow Tailed Bee Eaters, Black Bee-Eaters, Black Chested Eagles, the Bustards, Lesser Flamingos, as well as Chappirs Fly Catchers. Queen Elizabeth national park is among the best birder’s paradise across East Africa in addition to home to various primate species including Chimpanzees, Black & White Colobus Monkeys, Black Faced Olive Baboons Red Colobus, Blue and Red Tailed monkeys among others.  Green Mambas, Puff adders, crocodiles, Rock-Python, Turtles, Gabon Rippers and Spitting Cobras.Dinner and overnight at the Mweya Safari Lodge or Jacana lodge or Institute of Ecology

DAY 2: GAME DRIVE – BOAT CRUISE ON KAZINGA CHANNEL

You will wake up to a hot cup of tea/coffee before setting out for an early morning game drive inside the Park. Some of the animals you should expect to see include the Big Five animals such as Buffalos, Hyenas, leopards, mongoose, Elephants, waterbucks, Lions, Bush bucks, forest hog as well as a great profusion of bird species. In the mid morning head back to the lodge for heavy breakfast and rest as you wait for Lunch. At around 2:00pm in the afternoon, you will set out on a lunch cruise down the Kazinga channel to see the large schools of Hippos, Buffalos, as well as Crocodiles near the water edge. In addition, you will be fascinated by the great profusion of bird species down the Kazinga Channel including the Shoe bill stork, African Jacana, pelicans, papyrus gonolok, fish eagle, martial eagles, and Skimmers. Later return for dinner and overnight at your lodge

DAY 3: BWINDI IMPENETRABLE FOREST NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast you will drive through the Ishasha area and enjoy a game drive in southern Queen Elizabeth as you transfer to Bwindi National park. This area is renowned for its population of tree climbing Lions which you are likely to see. Later on you will enjoy a picnic Lunch out in the Wilderness and then proceed to Bwindi national park. Dine and overnight at Buhoma community bandas, Gorilla Resort camp, or Buhoma Homestead, or L. Kitandara Tented camp

DAY 4: GORILLA TREKKING – BWINDI IMPENETRABLE FOREST NATIONAL PARK

This will be one of the highlights of this safari ass you set out looking for the gorillas. the activity begins in the early morning and will require you to leave your lodge with a packed lunched, enough drinking water, a rain gear as well as strong hiking shoes. you will be briefed at the park headquarters before setting on an activity that takes 2 -8 hour. You will be allowed an hour in the midst of the gorillas taking photos and observing them. You will later return to the lodge for dinner and the overnight

DAY 5: KINIGI – RWANDA

Today you will drive across the rolling hills as you enjoy the beautiful scenery on your journey into Rwanda. Eventually you will reach the park headquarters at Kinigi where you will begin to track the gorillas in Parc National des Volcans. Overnight and dinner at Mt Gorilla Nest Lodge or Kinigi Guest House (FB)

DAY 6: GORILLA SAFARI – VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK

You will set out across the verdant terrain searching the forests and hills in search of the mountain Gorillas. You will be extremely stunned at the sight of these wonderful giants especially the dominant silver back. In case this activity ends early, you will visit Dian Fossey’s Karisoke Research Centre where this renowned primatologist lived and worked for several years. Later return to your lodge for dinner and the night.

DAY 7: LAKE MBURO – LAKE MBURO NATIONAL PARK

You will cross back into Uganda and transfer to Lake Mburo National Park.  It will be a scenic drive and you eventually arrive in the afternoon. If time allows, you will enjoy a boat ride on Lake Mburo as well as game drive in the evening. Dine and sleep at Mantana Luxury camp, or Mihingo Lodge, or Rwonyo Camp.

DAY 8: KAMPALA – DEPARTURE

Very early in the morning you will have a game drive int the park to see some of the wild animals including Elands, orbis and topis. You will drive on to Mbarara where you will have breakfast before proceeding to Kampala. This will mark the end of this amazing safari.
