11 Days Primates Jungle Tour Uganda | Wildlife Safari

DAY 1: NGAMBA ISLAND | CHIMPANZEE SANCTUARY

Early in the morning the guide will pick you up from your Hotel and then head to Entebbe. At the shore of Lake Victoria You will transfer by boat to Ngamba island Chimpanzee Island (one hours ride). On arrival you will be offered a brief introduction about this sanctuary plus its history. You will them observe the chimpanzees being fed and see how they interact with each other. Amazing to see are some of their unique characters which include whistling for food and clapping. This is a very amazing activity worth enjoying. You will later return to your hotel in Entebbe / Kampala where you will dine and spend the night.

DAY 2: MURCHISON FALL NATIONAL PARK

Today you will transfer northwards driving through Luweero and Masindi. On reaching River Nile you will cross by ferry in case your accommodation is the other side the river. Dine and spend the night at Paraa Safari Lodge, or Nile safari Camp, or Sambiya River Lodge, or Red Chillis camp.

DAY 3: LAUNCH CRUISE | VICTORIA NILE

Early in the morning you will set out for a game drive. Some of the animals you will see include: Giraffes, antelopes, bush bucks, water bucks as well as several others. Head back to the lodge for a late breakfast and later lunch. In the afternoon, you will set off for a launch cruise on the Nile up to the bottom of the falls. During this amazing voyage, you will see large schools of hippos, water-bucks and giant crocodiles plus various birds along the river banks. Return to either Paraa Safari Lodge, or Sambiya River lodge, or Budget Red Chili Camp for dinner and the overnight

DAY 4: KIBALE NATIONAL PARK

After your breakfast, you will drive southwards through Hoima across the beautiful Albertine escarpment countryside, making a stopover for lunch before reaching Fort portal town. You will be stunned by the breathtaking scenery as you see the western rift valley. Dine and overnight at Sky tree house, or Ndali lodge, or Primates lodge, or Rwenzori View guest house.

DAY 5: CHIMPANZEE TRACKING | NATURE WALKS

Begin the day with an early breakfast, and then head to Kanyankyu tourist centre where you will be briefed before Chimpanzee Tracking. Kibale forest has a large number of about 13 primate species including the grey mangabeys, uncommon L’Hoest, pottos, red Colobus monkey, baboons, blue monkey, bush babies and black faced vervet monkeys, among others. A series of shady trails offers great to delight to botanists as well as butterfly lovers, whereas birders will have a lot to enjoy of the 335 bird species. Other wildlife here includes buffaloes, giant forest hogs and various antelope species. Return to the lodge for lunch before going for a nature walk in Bigodi swamp.

DAY 6: SEMLIKI NATIONAL PARK | QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK

Transfer to Semuliki National park, and visit the Pygmies as well as the hot springs before reaching Queen Elizabeth National park where you will have a game drive as you transfer to Mweya safari Lodge, or jacana safari Lodge, or Institute of Ecology.

DAY 7: GAME DRIVE – BOAT RIDE | SAFARI

In the morning you will have a game drive down the Kasenyi track as well as queen’s miles where you will see the Uganda Kob, elephants, numerous buffaloes, waterbucks, in addition to several types of birds including the African Skimmer, martial Eagle, papyrus gonolek plus African Jacana among others. Head back to the lodge for a late breakfast and later lunch. In the afternoon you will enjoy a launch cruise on the Kazinga channel during which you will see various types of birds, hippos plus crocodiles. Later on in the evening, have a nature walk to the various bird habitats where you will see several birds. Dine and overnight back at your lodge

DAY 8: CHIMPANZEE TRACKING | BWINDI IMPENETRABLE FOREST

Begin the day with an early breakfast, and then head to Kanyankyu tourist centre where you will be briefed before Chimpanzee Tracking. Then drive through the Ishasha area renowned for its population of tree climbing Lions as you enter into Bwindi national Park. Dine and overnight at Gorilla Forest camp, or L. Kitandara Tented Camp, or Buhoma View bandas.

DAY 9: GORILLA TREKKING TOUR

Today will be one of the highlights of this trip as you go tracking mountain gorillas. The park rangers will brief you about this trekking activity and how to get along in the forest. The trek which may take 2-6 hours requires good hiking boots since a lot of walking is required. On finding them, you will be allowed to spend an hour in their presence taking photos and observing them cater for one another, feed and play. You will be stunned by the sheer size of the dominant male – the silver back. Dinner and slumber at Acadia cottages

DAY 10: LAKE BUNYONYI | KABALE

Drive to L. Bunyonyi found in Kabale where you will take a boat ride on the lake. In the afternoon, you will drive to L. Mburo through Mbarara, where you will enjoy a boat trip on Lake Mburo. Dine and spend the night at Mantana Tented camps, or Muhingo Lodge, or Rwonyo Rest Camp.

DAY 11: GAME DRIVE | DEPARTURE

Early morning you will head out for an early game drive as you look for Zebras plus various other animals and later drive back to Kampala from where you will be transferred to Entebbe airport for your departure flight.
