5 Days Primates Safaris, Gorilla Tracking Uganda and Rwanda

DAY 1: KAMPALA | RWANDA

Very early in the morning you will be picked from your hotel in Kampala and drive southwestwards to Rwanda for your Rwanda Safari. Along the way you will briefly stop at the Equator for some photos and an informative talk, and also in Mbarara town for lunch. This scenic drive will take you through the beautiful rolling green hills of Uganda, through the ‘Switzerland of Uganda’, with views of some of the peaks of the Virunga Volcanoes and eventually cross into Rwanda. Dinner and Overnight at Gorilla Nest Lodge or Mountain Gorilla View Hotel or Kinigi Guest House or Muhavura lodge

DAY 2: GORILLA TRACKING | RWANDA

Following an Early morning cup of tea, you will head into Parc National des Volcans, a rain tropical forest on the hills of the Virunga Volcanoes which is the Gorilla sanctuary. Given the fact that the duration of gorilla trekking  is unpredictable, you will set out with a pack lunch and enough drinking water. Led by the park guides you will search the forest looking for these impressive giants who on finding you will spend an hour with before returning to your lodge where you will dine and spend the night

DAY 3: BWINDI FOREST NATIONAL PARK | UGANDA

After breakfast, you will drive back into Uganda and head to Bwindi National Park for another mountain gorilla safari  experience. This drive will take you through the hilly terrain of Rwanda as you cross into Uganda. You will have lunch en route before finally reaching Bwindi. Dine and spend the night at Gorilla Resort camp, or Buhoma Homestead, or L. Kitandara Camp, or Buhoma Community Bandas, or Nkuringo safari Lodge, or Virunga Lodge.

DAY 4: GORILLA TREKKING

Early morning you will head into the thick jungles of Bwindi to search for the mountain gorillas, ascending the steep slippery forested before finally finding the peaceful giant gorillas in their natural habitat. It is an inspiring experience! (The trek may take anything between 2 to 6 hours so it requires some fitness as well as strong hiking boots.) You will spend an hour in their midst listening to them grumble, observe the sheer size of the silver back, watch them feed play and care for one another. It is an amazing experience. If time allows, you will have a guided walk to the beautiful waterfalls with views of gorgeous butterflies, ferns and orchid along the way before returning to the lodge for dinner and the overnight.

DAY 5: DEPARTURE

The Final day of this Uganda and Rwanda safari has arrived. After an early breakfast, transfer back to Kampala with lunch en route and arrive in the late evening.
