14 Days Primates Safari Uganda Rwanda | Wildlife Africa Tour

DAY 1: ARRIVAL

On arrival you will be received by our tour guides who will transfer you to your accommodation at Cassia Lodge

DAY 2: MBALE VILLAGE | CULTURAL TOUR

Following an early Breakfast you will transfer to Mbale, (a 4 hours drive from the capital Kampala), through towns plus villages with even learn about the lifestyle of the local people living in these areas. You will have lunch at Mbale resort found in Mbale. Basing on your arrival time, you will visit different places to learn about the circumcision practice of the local Gisu people. Later in the evening, visit the Abayudaya community.(we can organize for you to have dinner and even spend the night with the Abayudaya community if you wish else, return to Mbale Resort Hotel, or Mt Elgon Hotel  for dinner and the overnight

DAY 3: SOURCE OF THE NILE – JINJA

After breakfast drive to Jinja, with some amazing site-seeing en route. In jinja, you will have lunch at Gately close to River Nile and later visit the true source of River Nile – the longest river on the African continent which was discovered by Speke many years ago. You will also visit the Bujagali falls, and listen to he various traditional tales attached to these falls. Dine and overnight at Jinja Nile Resort, or Gately on the Nile

DAY 4: FORT-PORTAL | MAHOMA WATERFALL

Today you will transfer to Fort Portal town, driving through villages and enjoying the beautiful scenery. Have lunch en route and eventually arrive in the late afternoon. The local guides in the evening will guide you on walks around the 1000 acre farm, all the way to the Mahoma Waterfall, and the crater edge, past the alcohol brewing drums, through coffee and banana plantations, and gardens of cassava, millet, groundnuts and sorghum. Dinner and overnight at Crater Lodge

DAY 5: PYGMIES | FORT-PORTAL

Very early in the morning you will have breakfast before setting out to explore the crown and the beautiful hot springs in fort portal (Almost 4 hours drive). You will spend most of the day exploring the pygmy villages found close to Ituri Rain-forest for a memorable cultural experience. You will have a packed lunch which you will enjoy as a picnic lunch. Later on you will be transferred back to Fort Portal town where you will dine and spend the night at Crater Lodge

DAY 6: CHIMPANZEE TRACKING | KIBALE FOREST NATIONAL PARK

Begin the day with an early breakfast, and then head to Kanyankyu tourist centre where you will be briefed before Chimpanzee Tracking. Kibale forest has a large number of about 13 primate species including the grey mangabeys, uncommon L’Hoest, pottos, red Colobus monkey, baboons, blue monkey, bush babies and black faced vervet monkeys, among others. A series of shady trails offers great to delight to botanists as well as butterfly lovers, whereas birders will have a lot to enjoy of the 335 bird species including Sunbirds , the Snowy Headed Robin Cat, Warblers, Black and White Casqued Hornbill, variety of Weavers, Emerald Cuckoo and Greenbuls. Dinner and over night at Crater Lodge

DAY 7: QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK

Following breakfast, transfer to Fort portal and visit the Kings Royal tombs plus the different cultural groups such as the Burungu community that is deep-rooted in the Traditional Tooro culture which will entertain you with songs and cultural dances plus some story telling. Spend the morning with the local community enjoying village walks and later in the afternoon transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park where you will dine and spend the night at Ihamba safari lodge 

DAY 8: BOAT RIDE – KAZINGA CHANNEL | GAME VIEWING

In the morning you will have a game drive down the Kasenyi track as well as queen’s miles where you will see the Uganda Kob, elephants, numerous buffaloes, waterbucks, in addition to several types of birds including the African Skimmer, martial Eagle, papyrus gonolek plus African Jacana among others. Head back to the lodge for a late breakfast and later lunch. In the afternoon you will enjoy a launch cruise on the Kazinga channel during which you will see various types of birds, hippos plus crocodiles. Later on in the evening, have a nature walk to the various bird habitats where you will see several birds which make up more than 550 species including the Shoe bill stork, African Jacana, pelicans, papyrus gonelok, fish eagle and martial eagles. Dine and overnight back at your lodge

DAY 9: BWINDI | ISHASHA SECTOR

Today you will depart for Bwindi, drive through the Ishasha area renowned for its population of tree climbing Lions as you enter into Bwindi national Park. Dine and overnight at Gorilla safari lodge / Nkuringo campsite

DAY 10: TREK GORILLAS | BWINDI IMPENETRABLE FOREST

Today will be one of the highlights of this trip as you go tracking mountain gorillas. The park rangers will brief you about this trekking activity and how to get along in the forest. The trek which may take 2-6 hours requires good hiking boots since a lot of walking is required. On finding them, you will be allowed to spend an hour in their presence taking photos and observing them cater for one another, feed and play. You will be stunned by the sheer size of the dominant male – the silver back. Dinner and slumber at previous lodge

DAY 11: VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK | RWANDA

Today you will cross into Rwanda, although it will necessitate you to present a Visa at the border crossing. You will have lunch and later arrive at your accommodation where your safari guide will brief you about the gorilla tracking activity for the following day. Dine and overnight at Five volcanoes Hotel

DAY 12: RWANDA GORILLA TREKKING

Following an Early morning cup of tea, you will head into Parc National des Volcans, a rain tropical forest on the hills of the Virunga Volcanoes which is the Gorilla sanctuary. Because the duration of this activity is unpredictable, you will set out with a pack lunch and enough drinking water. Led by the park guides you will search the forest looking for these impressive giants who on finding you will spend an hour with before returning to your lodge where you will dine and spend the night

DAY 13: GOLDEN MONKEY TREK | GENOCIDE MEMORIAL

After your breakfast, You will track the Golden Monkey, then have lunch and In the afternoon, transferred to the capital Kigali where you will have a tour of the Genocide memorial and the Markets.  Later retire to Gorillas Golf Hotel

DAY 14:  DEPARTURE | END OF TOUR

After breakfast you will transfer to Kigali airport for your departure flight back home
