14 Days Gorilla Wildlife Safari Uganda | Africa Adventure

DAY 1: KAMPALA CITY TOUR, HISTORICAL SITES – UGANDA

On arrival you will be received by our tour guides who will drive you to your accommodation at Serena Hotel or Holiday Express Hotel, or Humurah Hotel where you will dine and spend the night. Depending on your arrival time enjoy a short city tour in Kampala to the various historical sites.

DAY 2: SOURCE OF THE NILE-JINJA, BUJAGALI FALLS

After breakfast drive to Jinja, with some amazing site-seeing en route. You will have lunch and later visit the true source of River Nile – the longest river on the African continent which was discovered by Speke many years ago. You will also visit the Bujagali falls, and listen to the various traditional tales attached to these falls.  Return to Holiday express for your dinner and over night.

DAY 3: TOP OF THE FALLS | MURCHISON FALLS

In the morning our guide will pick you up from your hotel and transfer to Murchison Falls National Park in northern Uganda. Have lunch in Masindi town or a picnic lunch within Kaniyo – Pabidi forest. Continue to Murchison falls National Park driving through Kichumbanyobo gate. You will transfer to the “Top of the waterfalls” for a spectacular sight of the powerful Nile forcing its way through a narrow 7 meter wide rocky gap. This is the place where the River Nile explodes through a slim gorge and drops down into a serene river.  Dine and overnight at Red Chillis Camp.

DAY 4: BOAT SAFARI RIDE-RIVER NILE

Early in the morning you will set out for a game drive. Some of the animals you will see include: Giraffes, antelopes, bush bucks, water bucks as well as several others. Head back to the lodge for a late breakfast and later lunch. in the afternoon, you will set off for a launch cruise on the Nile up to the bottom of the falls. During this amazing voyage, you will see large schools of hippos, waterbucks and giant crocodiles plus various birds including cormorants, kingfishers, ducks, and the rare shoebill, herons and fish eagles along the river banks. Dinner and the overnight at your lodge

DAY 5: FORT-PORTAL TOWN, MAHOMA WATERFALL

Today you will transfer to Fort Portal town, driving through villages and enjoying the beautiful scenery. Have lunch en route and eventually arrive in the late afternoon. The local guides in the evening will guide you on walks around the 1000 acre farm, all the way to the Mahoma Waterfall, and the crater edge, past the alcohol brewing drums, through coffee and banana plantations, and gardens of cassava, millet, groundnuts and sorghum. Dinner and overnight at Ndali Lodge, or Primates Lodge, or Mantana Luxury tented Camp.

DAY 6: CHIMPANZEE TREKKING SAFARI | KIBALE NATIONAL PARK

Begin the day with an early breakfast, and then head to Kanyankyu tourist centre where you will be briefed before Chimpanzee Tracking. Kibale forest has a large number of about 13 primate species including the grey mangabeys, uncommon L’Hoest, pottos, red Colobus monkey, baboons, blue monkey, bush babies and black faced vervet monkeys, among others. A series of shady trails offers great to delight to botanists as well as butterfly lovers, whereas birders will have a lot to enjoy of the 335 bird species including Sunbirds , the Snowy Headed Robin Cat, Warblers, Black and White Casqued Hornbill, variety of Weavers, Emerald Cuckoo and Greenbuls. Dinner and over night at Mantan Luxury tented Camp, Ndali Lodge, or Primates Lodge, Rujuni guest house.

DAY 7: PYGMIES IN SEMLIKI

Very early in the morning you will have breakfast before setting out to explore the crown and the beautiful hot springs in fort portal (Almost 4 hours drive). You will spend most of the day exploring the pygmy villages found close to Ituri Rainforest for a memorable cultural experience. You will have a packed lunch which you will enjoy as a picnic lunch. Later on you will be transferred back to Fort Portal town where you will dine and spend the night at Mantan Luxury tented Camp, Ndali Lodge, or Primates Lodge, Rujuni guest house.

DAY 8: ROYAL TOMBS – CULTURE & TRANSFER TO QENP

Following breakfast, transfer to Fort portal and visit the Kings Royal tombs plus the different cultural groups such as the Burungu community that is deep-rooted in the Traditional Toro culture which will entertain you with songs and cultural dances plus some story telling.
Spend the morning with the local community enjoying village walks and later in the afternoon transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park where you will dine and spend the night at Jacana Safari Lodge, or Mweya Safari Lodge, or Kitandara Hippos camp, or Institute of Ecology.

DAY 9: BOAT RIDE – KAZINGA CHANNEL

In the morning you will have a game drive down the Kasenyi track as well as queen’s miles where you will see the Uganda Kob, elephants, numerous buffaloes, waterbucks, in addition to several types of birds including the African Skimmer, martial Eagle, papyrus gonolek plus African Jacana among others. Head back to the lodge for a late breakfast and later lunch. In the afternoon you will enjoy a launch cruise on the Kazinga channel during which you will see various types of birds, hippos plus crocodiles. Later on in the evening, have a nature walk to the various bird habitats where you will see several birds which make up more than 550 species including the Shoe bill stork, African Jacana, pelicans, papyrus gonelok, fish eagle and martial eagles. Dine and overnight back at your lodge.

DAY 10: BWINDI FOREST NATIONAL PARK | GAME SAFARI DRIVE-ISHASHA SECTOR

Today you will depart for Bwindi, drive through the Ishasha area renowned for its population of tree climbing Lions as you enter into Bwindi national Park. Dine and overnight at Gorilla Forest camp, or L. Kitandara Tented Camp, or Buhoma View bandas

DAY 11: GORILLA TREKKING – BWINDI FOREST

Today will be one of the highlights of this trip as you go tracking mountain gorillas. The park rangers will brief you about this trekking activity and how to get along in the forest. The trek which may take 2-6 hours requires good hiking boots since a lot of walking is required. On finding them, you will be allowed to spend an hour in their presence taking photos and observing them cater for one another, feed and play. You will be stunned by the sheer size of the dominant male – the silver back. Dinner and slumber at Gorilla Resort Camp, or Buhoma Lodge former Buhoma Homestead, or L. Kitandara tents, or Buhoma Community bandas

DAY 12: LAKE MBURO NATIONAL PARK

Drive through the beautiful green rolling countryside to Lake Mburo National park (approximately 5 hours drive) have lunch, and later a boat ride on lake Mburo and a game drive  to see zebras, cape buffalos, impalas, topi, elands, oribi, and if lucky jackals, Roan antelopes, hyenas and leopards
Dine and overnight at Rwonyo Rest Camp.

DAY 13: NGAMBA ISLAND – CHIMPANZEE SANCTUARY

Return to Kampala, and proceed to Entebbe to visit the Ngamba Island.  You will board the boat from the pier to the chimp sanctuary. You will see the chimpanzees as you stand at the visitors’ platform later return to Entebbe and transfer to Central Inn or Bomma Guest house for dinner and the overnight.

DAY 14: DEPARTURE – ENTEBBE AIRPORT

You will be transferred to the airport for your departure flight back home
