9 Days Luxury Uganda Gorilla Safari – Africa

DAY 1: LAKE MBURO NATIONAL PARK

Early in the morning you will be picked from your hotel within Kampala by our guide and drive to Lake Mburo National Park stopping over at Mpambire drum-makers where you will learn about the history of the traditional drums and how they are made through the generations. In addition you will stopover at the Equator for photographs. Continue to the park and have a 1 – 2 hours boat ride in the afternoon on Lake Mburo. This lake has plenty of varied plants and animals which you will see during the boat ride including hippos, Crocodiles and birds like pelicans, black crake and Heron. Dine and overnight at Mantana tented Camp, or Mihingo Lodge, or Rwonyo Camp.

DAY 2:  BWINDI FOREST NATIONAL PARK

Following an early breakfast you will go for a game drive close to the lake shore offering you an opportunity to see various plants and animals such as bush duikers, zebras, bush-backs, elands and topis; and even see the 5 lakes inside the park. Later on you will transfer to Bwindi national park driving South Westwards across the beautiful countryside and the ‘Switzerland of Uganda’. You will have lunch along the way before finally reaching Bwindi. In the North is Bwindi’s Northern area while in the south is the Mgahinga area. Dinner and Over night at Travelers rest Hotel, Gorilla resort camp, or Nkuringo safari Lodge, or Buhoma Community bandas basing on the gorilla group you will be tracking

DAY 3: GORILLA TREKKING

Early morning you will set off with a packed lunch, cameras, rain jackets, water and hiking boots and assemble for a briefing by the rangers regarding gorilla tracking a very thrilling and memorable experience! These will explain to you how to conduct yourself in the presence of the gorillas as well as the guidelines of gorilla tracking. We cannot predict for how long you will move before finding them but it takes anything between 2 – 8 hours. You will spend an hour observing and taking pictures of the amazing gorillas. Later on you will return to your lodge for dinner and the overnight.

DAY 4: ISHASHA | QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK

Following breakfast you will drive through the southern Ishasha area of Queen Elizabeth National Park where you will enjoy a short game drive as you look for the amazing tree climbing lions and visit the crater lakes region. Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge, or Jacana safari Lodge, or Institute of Ecology (FB)

DAY 5: GAME DRIVE | BOAT-RIDE KAZINGA CHANNEL

Early in the morning you will have a game drive in the Park, you will see various wild animals such as antelopes, lions, hyenas, leopards and elephants in addition to various birds. After lunch you will have a boat ride on the Kazinga channel during which you will see large numbers of hippos and buffaloes plus several others. Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge, or Jacana safari Lodge, or the Institute of Ecology

DAY 6: KYAMBURA GORGE | FORT-PORTAL

After tracking chimpanzee in the Kyambura Gorge, you will transfer to Fort portal town where you will have dinner and spend the night at Ndali Lodge, or Primates Lodge, or Rwenzori View Guest House, Kanyankyu Ecological Bandas (FB)

DAY 7: TOP OF THE FALLS | MURCHISON FALLS

Drive to Murchison Falls National Park found in northern Uganda. You will drive through the beautiful countryside through Hoima and have lunch along the way. The Murchison falls Protected Area (MFPA) comprises of the renowned Murchison Falls National Park, Bugungu as well as Karuma Wildlife Reserves. On arrival in the park, you will head to the top of the falls to see the spectacular sight as the waters of the great Nile make their way through a small 7 meter gorge before dropping to over 40 meters below. It’s a breathtaking sight. Some of the animals you will see inside the park include: buffaloes and numerous antelopes. Dinner and overnight at Paraa safari Lodge, or Chobe Lodge

DAY 8: GAME DRIVE / BOAT-RIDE ON VICTORIA NILE

Early in the morning you will set off for a game drive to see the early risers as well as predators returning from their night’s hunt to their hide out. You will later return for lunch at the lodge before going for a boat ride in the afternoon on the Victoria Nile which will take you up to the bottom of the waterfalls. This boat ride is the highlight of any safari within the park and will offer you an opportunity to see various wild animals such as hippos, crocodiles, buffaloes and elephants in addition to different birds like the bee-eaters, herons, kingfishers, cormorants, fish eagles and ducks. This 3 hours cruise that begins at Paraa covers a 17km distance. Dinner and overnight at Paraa safari Lodge, or Chobe Lodge

DAY 9: FOREST WALK – DEPARTURE

After an early morning breakfast, you will go for a forest walk in Kaniyo Pabidi in search for Chimpanzees then after transfer to Kampala or Entebbe for your next flight back home
