8 Days Uganda Gorilla and Wildlife Safari

DAY 1: DRIVE | BWINDI IMPENETRABLE FOREST NATIONAL PARK

Early in the morning you will be picked from your hotel within Kampala by our guide and then transfer to Southwestern Uganda. You will briefly stop at the Equator before continuing to Bwindi. This scenic drive will take you through the gorgeous countryside including the ‘Switzerland of Uganda’ an area with beautiful rolling landscape. Enjoy lunch en route in Mbarara town and finally arrive at your accommodation in the Evening. Dinner and Over night at Travelers rest Hotel, Gorilla resort camp, or Nkuringo safari Lodge, or Buhoma Community bandas basing on the gorilla group you will be tracking.

DAY 2: GORILLA TRACKING | BWINDI FOREST

Early morning you will set off with a packed lunch, cameras, rain jackets, water and hiking boots and assemble for a briefing by the rangers regarding gorilla tracking a very thrilling and memorable experience!  These will explain to you how to conduct yourself in the presence of the gorillas as well as the guidelines of gorilla tracking. We cannot predict for how long you will move before finding them but it takes anything between 2 – 8 hours. You will spend an hour observing and taking pictures of the amazing gorillas. Later on you will return to your lodge for dinner and the overnight.

DAY 3: ISHASHA AREA – QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK

Following breakfast you will drive through the southern Ishasha area of Queen Elizabeth National Park where you will enjoy a short game drive as you look for the amazing tree climbing lions and visit the crater lakes region. Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge, or Jacana safari Lodge, or Budget Institute of Ecology (FB)

DAY 4: GAME DRIVE / BOAT RIDE – KAZINGA CHANNEL

Early in the morning you will have a game drive in the Park looking for early risers as they return to their hide-outs. During this thrilling drive, you will see various wild animals such as antelopes, lions, hyenas, leopards and elephants in addition to various birds. After lunch you will have a boat ride on the Kazinga channel during which you will see large numbers of hippos and buffaloes plus several others. Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge, or Jacana safari Lodge, or the Institute of Ecology (FB)

DAY 5: CHIMP TRACKING | KYAMBURA GORGE

After tracking chimpanzee in the Kyambura Gorge, you will transfer to Fort portal town where you will have dinner and spend the night at Ndali Lodge, or Primates Lodge, or Rwenzori View Guest House, Kanyankyu Ecological Bandas (FB)

DAY 6 : MURCHISON FALLS NP | TOP OF THE FALLS

Drive to Murchison Falls National Park found in northern Uganda. You will drive through the beautiful countryside of Fort-portal, Hoima and have lunch along the way. On arrival in the park, you will head to the top of the falls to see the spectacular sight as the waters of the great Nile make their way through a small 7 meter gorge before dropping to over 40 meters below. It’s a breathtaking sight. Dinner and overnight at Paraa safari Lodge, or Nile safari camps, or Sambiya River lodge, Red Chillis camp

DAY 7: GAME DRIVE / BOAT-RIDE | VICTORIA NILE

Early in the morning you will set off for a game drive to see the early risers as well as predators   returning from their night’s hunt to their hide out. You will later return for lunch at the lodge before going for a game drive in the afternoon on the Victoria Nile which will take you up to the bottom of the waterfalls. Dinner and overnight at Paraa safari Lodge, or Nile safari camps, or Sambiya River lodge, Red Chillis camp

DAY 8: CHIMPANZEE TRACKING, KANIYO PABIDI | DEPARTURE

Begin the day with an early breakfast, you before setting off on a forest walk in Kaniyo Pabidi as you look for Chimpanzees. This Kaniyo Pabidi is an uninterrupted area comprised of natural forest inside Budongo Forest Reserve.  You will hike through the thick mature mahogany plus iron trees. The most prominent activity here is Chimpanzee tracking but you will see several forest birds, such as the Puvel’s illadopsis, Chocolate¬backed kingfisher and the White-thighed Hornbill. After tracking chimpanzees you will drive to capital Kampala and later transfer to Entebbe for your departure flight.
