Gorilla Watching Safari Uganda – Rwanda | 10 Days Gorilla Trekking Tour

DAY 1: AIRPORT TRANSFER

On arrival you will be received by our tour guides who will drive you to your accommodation at Serena Hotel or Holiday Express Hotel, or Humurah Hotel where you will dine and spend the night.

DAY 2:   KAMPALA CITY TOUR

Today you will have a city tour around the capital Kampala and visit various historical and cultural places such as the Namugongo shrine, Ssezibwa fall, Uganda museum, Kasubi Tombs, and later drive to Jinja with lunch en route. In Jinja you will explore the source of river Nile; where you may have the opportunity to enjoy a boat ride and visit the beautiful Bujagali Falls.
Later head back to Kampala and have dinner as well as spend the night at your Hotel

DAY 3: LAKE MBURO NATIONAL PARK

Very early in the Morning you will have breakfast and drive southwestwards along Masaka Road to Lake Mburo National Park making a stop over at the Uganda Equator. On arrival at L. Mburo NP, you will have a game drive en route to your accommodation and you will see various animals including zebras, Topis, Uganda Kobs and Elands, among others. You will have lunch in the park before going on an afternoon boat ride on the lake.
Dinner and overnight at Rwonyo Camp, or Mantana tented camp, or Muhingo Lodge

DAY 4: QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK

You will enjoy breakfast in the morning before transferring to Queen Elizabeth driving through the beautiful Ankole countryside. Along the way you will have a game drive seeing animals such as mongoose, Elephants and Buffaloes plus others. You will have lunch and afterwards Visit the crater lakes region before continuing for dinner and the overnight at Mweya safari lodge or Albertine camp or Jacana safari lodge

DAY 5: GAME DRIVE | BOAT RIDE-KAZINGA CHANNEL

Early in the morning you will have a game drive in the Park, you will see various wild animals such as antelopes, lions, hyenas, leopards and elephants in addition to various birds. Head back to the lodge for a late breakfast, then Relax as you wait for lunch. After lunch you will have a boat ride on the Kazinga channel during which you will see large numbers of hippos and buffaloes plus several others. The channel’s shores are dotted with several different types of birds including the pelicans, African jacana and the fish eagle among others. Crocodiles too have become a usual sight here.
Return to your lodge for d inner and over night.

DAY 6: BWINDI FOREST NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast you will drive through the Ishasha area and enjoy a game drive in southern Queen Elizabeth as you transfer to Bwindi National park. This area is renowned for its population of tree climbing Lions which you are likely to see. Later on you will enjoy a picnic Lunch out in the Wilderness and then proceed to Bwindi national park.
Dine and overnight at Buhoma community bandas, Gorilla Resort camp, or Buhoma Homestead, or L. Kitandara Tented camp

DAY 7: GORILLA TREKKING | BWINDI FOREST

Today will be one of the highlights of this trip as you go tracking mountain gorillas. This activity will include walking up the steep thick forested hills before eventually finding these gorillas in their natural habitat. It is a very thrilling encounter. The trek which may take 2-6 hours requires good hiking boots since a lot of walking is required. On finding them, you will be allowed to spend an hour in their presence taking photos and observing them cater for one another, feed and play. You will be stunned by the sheer size of the dominant male – the silver back. With less than 700 gorillas remaining in the world this will be a very memorable experience. If time allows, you will enjoy a short guided walk along the Munyaga River trail, to see the three beautiful waterfalls, ferns, orchids and colorful butterflies. Later retire to your lodge for dinner and the overnight

DAY 8: GENOCIDE MEMORIAL – RWANDA

You will have breakfast, and then transfer to Kisoro or Kabale, then cross the border into Rwanda to Kinigi. There you will go to the genocide memorial and also Visit the Dianne fossey graves prior to having dinner and spending the night at Sabyinyo silverback lodge, mt gorilla view lodge, or Kinigi guest House, or Muhavura lodge.

DAY 9: GORILLA TRACKING – PARC NATIONAL DES VOLCANS

In the morning transfer to Parc National des Volcans to track mountain gorillas; you will move through the forested slopes of the Virungas as you search for the gorillas. Although this is a tiring activity, it is also very rewarding. You will spend one hour with the gorillas, and later have a late lunch. A number of the gorilla families are more challenging to track and may take the entire day especially if it is rainy and muddy.
You will drive back to Uganda and have dinner and overnight at Bushara Island Camp, or Habuharo Island Camp, or Arcadia cottages.

DAY 10: LAKE BUNYONYI – DEPARTURE

After breakfast you will visit the cultural museums within Kabale and then transfer to Kampala or directly to Entebbe for your departure flight.
