10 Days Uganda Safari Holiday | Gorilla Tracking Africa

DAY 1: ARRIVAL – KAMPALA

on arrival at the airport you will be met by our safari guide who will drive you to dinner and spend the night. Options include: Holiday Express Hotel, or Serena or Sheraton.

DAY 2: MURCHISON FALLS – RIVER NILE CRUISE

In the morning our guide will pick you up from your hotel and transfer to Murchison Falls National Park in northern Uganda driving through Luwero triangle. Prior to reaching you accommodation, you will visit the top of the falls to see the great Nile force its way through a narrow 7 meter gorge before thunderously plunging 43 meters below. From here you will cross the Nile by ferry to your accommodation – Paraa Safari Lodge. You will see various animals such as buffaloes, crocodiles and hippos as you cross on the river banks. Other accommodation options: Sambiya River lodge, or Budget Red Chili Camp (Full Board).

DAY 3:  GAME DRIVE – BOAT TRIP

Early in the morning you will set out for a game drive. Some of the animals you will see include: Giraffes, antelopes, bush bucks, water bucks as well as several others. Head back to the lodge for a late breakfast and later lunch. in the afternoon, you will set off for a launch cruise on the Nile up to the bottom of the falls. During this amazing voyage, you will see large schools of nearly 3,000 hippos, and giant crocodiles along the river banks. Return to either Paraa Safari Lodge, or Sambiya River lodge, or Budget Red Chili Camp for dinner and the overnight

DAY 4: FORT-PORTAL TOWN – UGANDA

After your breakfast, you will drive southwards going through the beautiful countryside up to Fort portal town having lunch en route. Dine and slumber at Ndali Lodge, or Rwenzori View guest house, or Kanyankyu campsite

DAY 5: KIBALE NATIONAL PARK – QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK

You will begin the day early with a quick breakfast and then assemble to the ranger station found in Kibale National Park by 8.00am to track the habituated chimpanzees – these amazing apes, are very closely related to man so it will be a very thrilling experience. Kibale park prides in a variety of primates which including 13 primate species such as the red Colobus monkey, black faced vervet monkeys, the L’Hoest, baboons, blue monkey, grey mangabey, bushbabies plus pottos. You will also see several butterflies, and more than 300 bird species. You will have lunch and later transfer to Queen Elizabeth National park. Dinner and overnight at the Institute of Ecology, or Mweya Safari Lodge (FB)

DAY 6:  GAME DRIVES AND KAZINGA LAUNCH CRUISE

You will set out for an early game drive inside the Park to see various animals, birds and reptiles as outlines above. In the mid morning you will return to your lodge for a late breakfast and later lunch. In the afternoon, go for a boat ride along the Kazinga channel to see the different animals in and on the water edge including giant hippos and Buffalo moving on the shores of the channel plus a great profusion of birds including the African Jacana, Great White and Pink-Backed Pelicans, Pied Kingfishers, Great and Long-Tailed Cormorants, Malachite and Open-Billed Stork. Migrant species can best be seen in February and March. During the boat ride you will be detailed about the various wildlife that you will see by your guide. Return for dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge or Jacana safari Lodge, or Institute of Ecology

DAY 7:  BWINDI FOREST NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast you will drive through the Ishasha area and enjoy a game drive in southern Queen Elizabeth as you transfer to Bwindi National park. This area is renowned for its population of tree climbing Lions which you are likely to see. Later on you will enjoy a picnic Lunch out in the Wilderness and then proceed to Bwindi national park. Bwindi is home to the renowned mountain gorillas as well as a bird list of more than 330 species including Albertine Endemics.

DAY 8: TREK GORILLAS | BWINDI FOREST NP

Today will be one of the highlights of this trip as you go watch mountain gorillas in groups of a maximum of 8 people. This activity will include walking up the steep thick forested hills before eventually finding these gorillas in their natural habitat. It’s a very thrilling encounter. The trek which may take 2-6 hours requires good hiking boots since a lot of walking is required. On finding them, you will be allowed to spend an hour in their presence taking photos and observing them cater for one another, feed and play. You will be stunned by the sheer size of the dominant male – the silver back. With less than 700 gorillas remaining in the world this will be a very memorable experience. Later retire to your lodge for dinner and the overnight

DAY 9:  LAKE MBURO NATIONAL PARK | BOAT RIDE

After breakfast you will drive to L.Mburo National park having lunch in the town of Mbarara and then continue to the park where you will have a boat ride or an exciting game drive. Dine and spend the night at Mantana Luxury tented Camp, or Muhingo lodge, or Rwonyo Camp

DAY 10: DEPARTURE – KAMPALA / ENTEBBE

Today after your breakfast, you will drive to Kampala where you will have a brief city tour if time allows before being transferred to the airport for your departure flight.
