BUHOMA COMMUNITY REST CAMP

Buhoma community bandas was started by the local people living in the Buhoma area of Bwindi national park.  It started as a camping site and now it has grown and has a couple of moderate cottages. Buhoma community rest camp is one of the best and cheapest lodges near Bwindi Forest. Buhoma Community Rest Camp is located at the gate of Bwindi park.

The Lodge rooms

This lodge has both the self contained rooms and the no self contained rooms. For the non-self-contained rooms the bathrooms are outside and shared.  There is a total of 6 safari tents that are self-contained and with a beautiful view of the thick Bwindi forest.

The lodge has 2 self contained cottages facing the forest. If you are lucky, the gorillas might find you at the lodge as they sometimes wonder around and even get to the lodge. While here, you may have an opportunity to see the gorillas when they drop by at the lodge. In addition, the lodge has five non self contained twin cottage bandas.

Tents were built to sit on a raised platform whereas the cottage bandas are built using Local materials. African materials gives them that beauty and the uniqueness that the others don’t have.

There is also a dormitory for the people that travel in large groups like school kids and this dorm can take about 6 beds but this depends on the interest of the clients.

Camping grounds are available for those interested in Camping.  Furthermore, you can opt to carry your own tent.

The meals.

A skilled chef prepares the meals at buhoma community bandas. Thus you do not have to worry about the food served.  As a result, continental dishes and vegetarian meals are prepared at buhoma community bandas. . All proceeds of  Buhoma community bandas go back to the local communities surrounding Bwindi forest.

A well stocked bar  is available at the premises with several brands of , local beers, wines and spirits served. The bar is open for most of the time so you can order for your drink any time of the day.
