What to do when you get to Iby’Iwacu village

The main activity is done is a guided community walk during which you will check out the different interesting sites that your local guide will suggest. The local guide will give you all the information you may need to know about those sites you will visit.  During the community walk, you visit places like the king’s house, a place where you can learn about a lot of their cultural treasure. There is the opportunity to visit the local schools to learn more about Rwanda’s education system. This gives you the chance to have an experience about school life ina developing country. You can be always get the chance to sit for a while with the students in class and interact with the class.

If you are going for a community visit, you can always get a host home, spend your day with that family and they will show you how they spend their day. You can join them in the gardens, collecting food, preparing it and this way you will know what their best local dishes are and how it is prepared. You can also join them when it comes to dinning it and have a taste of the locally prepared dishes.

One of the events you shouldn’t miss is one of the bananas brewing process through which they get their local drink and you can always have a taste of this local banana beer. There are lots of activities that you can engage including the Batwa pottery experience which you can also participate in too. You can always choose what you want to go for and you can go for more than one depending on that amount of time you have to spend with the them. Community visits offer the best cultural tours because you are always in direct contact with the local people who will give you first hand information about their life as they know it.
