VIRUNGA LODGE

This lodge is found on a high hilltop with magnificent views of the Virunga volcanoes and Lakes Ruhondo and Bulera. To get to the lodge, it is about three hours' drive from Kigali, an hour from the Uganda border and approximately an hour from the beginning of the gorilla tracking activities in Parc National des Volcans.
Accommodation & Facilities
The eight large rooms are comfortably furnished and have en-suite facilities. The cottages have a private en-suite bathroom with a 'bush' shower and 'dry-composting' toilet, like those found in distant safari camps. Every one of the Virunga Lodge cottages has its own verandah which, like the lounge, bar and dining room, looks across the valley with the lakes or volcanoes in the distance.

Wildlife & Activities
Parc National des Volcans is a neighbor to National Parks in the close by Uganda and DR Congo and is acquires its name from the string of volcanoes which it encompasses. There are at the moment seven habituated families of gorillas in PNV and gorilla tracking is the major reason most tourists tour this area. A part from gorilla tracking, tourists are able to participate in hiking on the Visoke or Karisimbi volcanoes, track golden monkeys, visit the left over of the Karisoke Centre which Dian Fossey set up, or go for gentle strolls near the picturesque villages next to the lakes-
