6 Days Rwanda Gorillas and Lake Kivu Safari

DAY 1: ARRIVAL | CITY TOUR KIGALI

Meet on arrival at the airport. Transfer to Kigali which is the capital city of Rwanda. Go for a city tour and see the different market and see how the people of the country live, The Centre is a permanent memorial to those who fell victim to the genocide and serves as a place for people to mourn those they lost, the geological museum. Dinner and overnight in Kigali.

DAY 2: KIBUYE | THOUSAND HILLS

Wake up early in the morning, have breakfast from your hotel then head for another city tour and visit places like the Moslem quarter where the biggest mosque in Rwanda exists, the pottery project of the Batwa (Dancing pots) which is located in the city centre at Kiyovu, Curio shops including Kaplaki which is the largest curio market. Lunch enroute then head to the beautiful countryside of the lands of the thousand hills and discover the gleaming waters of Lake Kivu which is one of the Africa’s great lakes. Dinner and Overnight in

DAY 3: LAKE SHORE ON LAKE KIVU | BIRD WATCHING

Early morning, have breakfast then enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the lake shore. Take a boat excursion past the small lakeside villages that offer a rewarding glimpse of rural life. View birds like the pelicans, crowned cranes, malachite kingfishers. After lunch, visit the tea plantation and stop to look around in the local village market places on our way to Gisenyi. DAY 4: MOUNTAIN GORILLA TREKKING SAFARI

Early morning, have breakfast then head to the gorilla sanctuary of Parc National des Volcan or volcanoes national park, the rain tropical forest covering the hills surrounding Virunga Volcanoes. The trekking is a demanding but rewarding experience. Ensure you bring enough water and the packed lunch with you. Tracking the gorillas through the unique vegetation can take several hours of challenging walking in the wet and muddy conditions. The time spent in the forest depends on the movements of the Gorillas in their natural environments. After the activity, you will return back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

DAY 5: GORILLA SAFARI

On this day, there is also tracking so wake up early in the morning, have breakfast and with packed lunch, head for the activity. After trekking, visit the small town of Ruhengeri, built on an old lava field which sources now refer to the city itself as Musanze. It lies near the twin lakes of Lake Burera and lake Ruhondo. Dinner and overnight at the accommodation of your budget.

DAY 6: DEPARTURE

Have breakfast early in the morning then head back to Kigali while enjoying the view on the Bulera and Ruhondo lakes. Transfer to the airport to board the departure flight.
