A great deal of the park frequently emerges to be in a heat miasma formed by the soda lake – Lake Manyara. Lake Manyara attracts significant bird-life, and its contiguous territory encloses such a rich assortment of distinctive habitats that it supports a large number of animals. Such varied environs draw evenly varied species such as hippos, monkeys, zebras, antelopes, crocodiles, buffalo, giraffe and a high mass of herds of elephants. The park is predominantly recognized for its tree-climbing lions, who may be seen sleeping off the heat of the day on a branch instead of a shady spot on the ground like most other lions. Fish-eating birds dwelling in the lake include storks, pelicans, cormorants and Egyptian geese. Flamingos color the lake pink when they come Lake Manyara to feed during their migration. One memorable view is a giant flock of red-billed quelea (red-billed weaver) who gather in their thousands and drift over the water like a huge swarms of insects. All the above make the morning and afternoon game drive in lake mayara enjoyable. After lunch, enjoy an exciting game drive in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight stay will be at Lake Manyara Serena Lodge

DAY 5: LAKE MANYARA – SERENGETI GAME RESERVE

Take breakfast and then drive to Serengeti Game Reserve. Arrive and check-in at Serengeti Serena Lodge. After lunch, enjoy an unforgettable game drive in the Park. It is hard to forecast where the migration will be because the animals migrate in search for food, and if the rains come when they are supposed to, the herds follow a conventional pattern. In May the herds graze along the western passageway between the Grumeti and Mbalageti Rivers, and begin their mating season. In June or July they divide and some continue west, others head to the north and hundreds of thousands move progressively north-west towards the long golden grass of the Masai Mara. They graze on both sides of the Mara River for several months and then head south again in about October. They return to the short grass plains of the southern Serengeti, where during December to April they give birth. Then their endless cycle of life begins again. Dinner and overnight stay will be at Serengeti Serena Lodge

DAY 7: SERENGETI – NGORONGORO CRATOR

Have a morning game drive and then drive to the famous Ngorongoro Crater. Arrive and check-in at Ngorongoro Serena Lodge. After lunch, enjoy a breathtaking game drive in the Crater. The ‘lost world’ of Ngorongoro was home to pigs the size of a hippopotamus, sheep-like beasts with 6-foot (3 metre) horns and three-toed horses. Nowadays Ngorongoro crater is inhabited by about 30,000 animals, of which half are zebra while others are wildebeest. This is an ideal condition for predators and dotted hyenas, lions lord over this field. Ngorongoro is also home to some leopards, three species of jackals and cheetahs. Tanzania’s few remaining black rhino are regularly sighted around this crater, as well as large herds of buffalo. In the crater floor and the Ngoitokitok swamps, live plethora of hippos who hang about somewhat submerged during the day and graze on grass at night. Although the area maintains a massive diversity of species, not all live down in the crater. Some are better modified to wandering along the vast conservation area surrounding the caldera. Elephant herds are perceptibly deficient from the crater floor because the cows and calves tend to have a preference of the forested moorland. They occasionally emerge at the crater rim but only infrequently venture down into the grasslands. Only full-grown bull elephants wander the crater floor carrying around some enormous tusks. Also not present from the Ngorongoro crater are impala, topi and oryx which live more on the eastern Serengeti plains, but Grant’s and Thompson’s gazelles appear in the crater in good numbers. Giraffes are also missing from the crater as they favor the sunshade acacia and wait-a-bit thorn trees found higher up. The salt-whitened shores of Lake Magadi are turned a pastel pink from thousands of flamingos sieving algae and shrimps from this soda lake. The lake also attracts a countless of other water birds including avocets, plovers and black-winged stilts whose long beaks probe the soft mud. Dinner and overnight stay will be at Ngorongoro Serena Lodge or its similar
