7 Days Gorilla Tour & Chimpanzee Safari Uganda and Rwanda

DAY 1: QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK

Following breakfast, our guide will transfer you to Queen Elizabeth national Park, driving through the beautiful Ankole countryside. As you proceed to your accommodation you will see several animals including different antelopes, elephants, mongoose and elephants. After checking in you will explore the beautiful crater lakes region. Later dine and overnight at the Jacana safari lodge or Mweya safari lodge or Albertine camp.

DAY 2: CHIMPANZEE TRACKING IN KYAMBURA GORGE, BOAT-RIDE ON KAZINGA CHANNEL

In the early morning you will set out tracking chimpanzees in Kyambura gorge(Kyambura Game Reserve).  This 100 meter deep goes is home to habituated chimpanzees, and It is found on the rift valley floor near the Kazinga channel. During this nature guided walk you will look for chimps which are man’s closest cousins. This 6-8 hours activity begins at 8:00am and will also offer you an opportunity to see some other primates including the colobus monkeys, red tailed monkeys and olive baboon. You will return for lunch at the lodge abd in the afternoon enjoy a boat cruise on the Kazinga channel to see various water mammals including Crocodiles plus large schools of Hippos, in addition to several birds like the fish eagle, African jacana and pelicans.
Return to your lodge for dinner and the overnight.

DAY 3: GAME DRIVE-QENP, BWINDI IMPENETRABLE FOREST NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast you will drive through the Ishasha area and enjoy a game drive in southern Queen Elizabeth National Park(QENP) as you transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National park. This area is renowned for its population of tree climbing Lions which you are likely to see. Later on you will enjoy a picnic Lunch out in the Wilderness and then proceed to Bwindi Forest National Park. Dine and overnight at Buhoma community bandas, Gorilla Resort camp, or Buhoma Homestead, or L. Kitandara Tented camp

DAY 4: GORILLA TREKKING SAFARI, BWINDI IMPENETRABLE NATIONAL PARK

Today will be one of the highlights of this trip as you go tracking mountain gorillas, this activity will include walking up the steep thick forested hills before eventually finding these gorillas in their natural habitat. It’s a very thrilling encounter. The trek which may take 2-6 hours requires good hiking boots since a lot of walking is required. On finding them, you will be allowed to spend an hour in their presence taking photos and observing them cater for one another, feed and play. You will be stunned by the sheer size of the dominant male – the silver back. With less than 700 gorillas remaining in the world this will be a very memorable experience. If time allows, you will enjoy a short guided walk along the Munyaga River trail, to see the three beautiful waterfalls, ferns, orchids and colorful butterflies. Later retire to your lodge for dinner and the overnight

DAY 5: RWANDA KINIGI, GENOCIDE MEMORIAL

Today you will have breakfast, and then transfer to Kisoro or Kabale, then cross the border into Rwanda to Kinigi. There you will go to the genocide memorial and also Visit the Dian fossey’s graves prior to having dinner and spending the night at Mt Gorilla nest lodge, or Kinigi guest House or Muhavura lodge.

DAY 6: GORILLA TREKKING REPLICA PARC NATIONAL DES VOLCANS

In the morning transfer to Parc National des Volcans to track mountain gorillas. you will move through the forested slopes of the Virungas as you search for the gorillas. Although this is a tiring activity, it is also very rewarding. You will spend one hour with the gorillas, and later have a late lunch. A number of the gorilla families are more challenging to track and may take the entire day especially if it is rainy and muddy.  You will drive back to Uganda and have dinner and overnight at Bushara Island Camp, or Habuharo Island Camp, or Arcadia cottages.

DAY 7: LAKE BUNYONYI, KABALE-UGANDA

After breakfast you will visit the cultural museums within Kabale and then transfer to Kampala or directly to Entebbe for your departure flight. End of your Uganda Rwanda Safari.
